Galanthus x valentinei 'Cowhouse Green'

Galanthus x valentinei 'Cowhouse Green'

Along with the late-flowering ‘Rushmere Green’, ‘Cowhouse Green’ was significantly the first virescent hybrid cultivar of G. x valentinei. Inclining in its stature towards the G. plicatus side of its parentage, this is a particularly fine example of less intensely green cultivars on the scale of variation found in virescent snowdrops, with elegantly shaped apple green outer segments combining favourable with a beautiful diffused inner marking concentrating as a V towards the apex which then delicately runs up the segment margins to the base. It was found in the late 1980s by Mark Brown at Rushmere, The Lee, Buckinghamshire and was first shown on the 1994 Gold Medal-winning stand at the RHS Show in 1994 when it leapt instantly to the top of everyone’s wants list! ‘Cowhouse Green’ is a vigorous plant, clumping well and producing large, long-necked bulbs like those offered.
