The calculatedly tongue-twisting compound name (which roughly translates to 'Hagen, you did not see?') highlights that it was not Hagen Engelmann that found this exceptionally fine semi-virescent but his wife Karla. In common with many Engelmann G. nivalis introductions, latish with proportionately large flowers and flattish outer segments, that for the intensity of their markings rank as one of the best of the semi-virescents of its species.
