Galanthus nivalis Poculiformis Group 'Swinging Star' (in-the-green)

Galanthus nivalis Poculiformis Group 'Swinging Star' (in-the-green)

£120.00

The Poculiformis Group of G. nivalis, defined by elongated inner segments largely unmarked (except for remnant apical markings of the inner segments) although nowadays the presence of a sinus is tolerated, is one of the most over-subscribed when you consider the possibilities for distinctiveness weighed against the bewilderingly large number of cultivars. It would be a very brave (idiotic) person who would claim to able to re-identify once-named clones where the labels had become mixed. So enter only the second known poculiform (of any species) with a long arching pedicel. Large, perfectly realised poculiform flowers on a tall, vigorous clone fetchingly coupled with a long pedicel that could easily have been borrowed from G. x valentinei 'Magnet'. A magnificent plant found in an old garden in northern France by Ruben Billet and Olivier Vico, the chosen name reflecting their adopted 'Star' suffix for many of their introductions.
