Although it may not look like it, 'Turncoat' is from a deliberate cross by Richard Bashford of G. plicatus 'Trym' and 'Cowhouse Green' which has produced a fine inverse poculiform whose distinctiveness - the turned back outer segment margins - is referenced in the name. As a footnote to this, bulbs taken in flower to East Ruston this year showed a very unexpected pink cast and sold rather quickly. A feature not previously noted? Definitely watch this space!
